DescriptionVincent Astor looking on as his wife Helen christens a seaplane for the Second Battalion of the New York Naval Militia.
NotesVincent Astor purchased and donated one of the two seaplanes available to the New York Naval Militia. He would command his battalion's aviation section. Astor would later own a similar plane which he would personally pilot and land on the Hudson River. Astor famously would use his seaplane to fly from Ferncliff to Newport, RI in under an hour.
